After helplessly watching media reports on a daily basis about how badly people, both young and old were suffering with mental health issues while in lockdown.
This spurred me on to try and help in some small way, so in March 2020, I decided to write a children’s illustration book, something that was designed to put me totally outside my comfort zone.
Having an idea and turning it into a book while locked away at home is literally as hard as it sounds. The experience was both challenging and rewarding for me as a new writer.
My storyline goal was to touch on the environment seen and experienced through the eyes of a 10-year-old boy from Paris, which I hope is both fun and thought provoking, and above all relevant.
Once the book is finished, my goal is to promote it as much as possible, using social media and various other platforms, and give all of the profits to two really good charities: Heads Together supporting mental health and the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) supporting wildlife and the welfare of our planet.
The book is now finished and has also been translated into French. I am proud of my achievement and hope that children aged 5 to 10 and their parents will enjoy the book and that it will sell a lot of copies and financially support the two charities.
On average, I get £5.00 per book, so my goal is to try and sell 5000 books worldwide, which will bring in £25,000.00 in royalties, which will be split 50/50 between both charities.
To assist my financial target, I have also set up this crowdfunding campaign as another option for people to donate money, should they not wish to purchase the book or would like to give an additional donation after buying the book.
The purchase of the book can be made at my newly commissioned website www.enriquereilly.com
I do hope I manage a successful money raising campaign as raising money for people less fortunate than me, makes me good.
