The Good Intent - Not-for-profit bar!

The Mission

The aim of Craddock's Good Intent is to establish a bar in the heart of Birmingham and to donate all of its profits to charities and good causes. It would be amongst the first of its kind in the UK and we're excited by the prospect of being able to raise a glass and help good causes at the same time!

The team is headed by David Craddock, a publican since the age of 21 who heads a company with four award-winning pubs and two breweries in the Black Country, Worcestershire and Shropshire. David is set to expand in a more altruistic direction through the Good Intent, and he has brought together a team of like-minded friends to help bring his vision to life.

If we're able to meet the goals set out in our business plan, we estimate the bar can generate ongoing annual profits of approximately £150,000 - hopefully more - all of which will be donated to charities and good causes!

We are in final negotiations regarding a rental property that is ideally situated for our needs, being located in an area that is easily accessible to our target customer base, people working in and visiting the city of Birmingham.

Initial meetings and consequent conversations have led us to believe that the project will be able to draw on a great deal of goodwill and support from the local community, not only from being a quality establishment for people to enjoy, but also from its unique approach to profit, namely its desire to contribute financially to those in need.

The Experience

The Good Intent will be run in the same manner and with the same focus on delivering outstanding ales and ciders as the  four existing, award winning, Craddock's Brewery ventures managed by David Craddock.

We intend to generate additional funds for the selected charity by showcasing events focusing upon music, food, drinks and the arts.

We intend to work with each charitable organisation chosen by the founding members for 3 months prior to making a donation, in order to ensure that both organisations are able to generate as much publicity as possible.

 Your Help

We have private pledges of over £150,000 already in place, and now need your help. We need to raise a further £100,000 in order to complete the refurbishments of the venue to an excellent standard, and to ensure the bar is ready to serve the city and community as quickly as possible when the doors first open. 

We have some fantastic rewards available, and also of course welcome any donations aside from these so that we can get the bar up and running to support charities and good causes.

***Update***

Since we launched the crowdfunding page back in June, and refurbishment began on the venue around the same time, we've been overwhelmed by the positive feedback and comments we've had to date, which makes us even more excited to launch the bar. We've also been incredibly grateful for the support we've received on the Crowdfunder page!

We've also been approached by a number of individuals and companies offering us alternative means of support through goods, services and private finance they can provide to the bar, for example the cash register systems alone worth nearly £10,000 are being very generously donated free of charge. This means we're able to reduce the target we need on the Crowdfunder site, from £100,000 all the way down to £15,000. We still very much wish to achieve this new target, and of course will honour all existing and future rewards! We can't wait to meet you all at the bar in the Autumn!
