She Productions comes to the rescue to stop this Christmas being ‘rubbish’ with
The Fairy Who Fell off the Christmas Tree
We will tour our original eco-friendly family musical to Libraries and Village Halls through December.
‘It’s Christmas Eve and the Fig family are feeling festive.
With decorations galore, the final touch is the Fairy on top of the Christmas tree. It is little Freddie’s turn to do the honours but as she stretches onto her tiptoes she stumbles and Fairy tumbles to the floor. “Never mind” says Fiona Fig, “we’ll buy a new one tomorrow”.
Will Bob the Bauble, Tina Tinsel & the rest of Decorations find a suitable understudy in time or will Fairy be thrown in the bin forever?
With a set made entirely out of recycled materials, this all-singing, all-dancing Christmas cracker is a reminder that being present is the most priceless gift you can give.’
First performed in 2019 at the East Riding Theatre to sell-out audiences, we are excited to take our show out into the heart of the East Riding communities. We will employ a local creative team to re-imagine the show, investing in local artists and developing new working relationships for future collaborations. Fairy is a next step towards becoming a carbon neutral company by using recycled materials & minimal tech.
The Fairy Who Fell off the Christmas Tree will be our first live production post-pandemic, a chance to re-introduce our loyal audience to theatre and welcome those who have engaged in our digital work over the last 18 months. We are eager to return to the stage and our family productions are designed for a relaxed environment using non-conventional spaces & minimal tech.
In partnership with East Riding Libraries, we will tour our original eco-friendly family musical, ‘The Fairy Who Fell off the Christmas Tree’ to venues throughout December. East Riding Libraries and village halls will welcome the show, including South Cave, Hedon and Hornsea, all of which have no professional theatres, along with low socio-economic areas such as Withernsea and Bridlington.
Through original songs, a multi-roling cast and recycled set, this show will ‘edutain’ via themes of celebrating difference and combatting Christmas consumerism.
We will employ an emerging female-identifying creative for the project, in line with our mission to nurture upcoming talent. Previous employee, Anja, said: “For someone at the beginning of their career, She Productions’ support has been gold dust!”
MINI CRITICS’ CLUB
Alongside the show, She Productions will develop 6 free MINI CRITICS’ CLUB for 30 young people aged 5-10 in Goole, Beverley and Bridlington. It will encourage critical thinking through creativity and participation in drama without the pressure of performing. Each participant will receive a family ticket to see the show and their review (written, audio or video) will be published on both She Productions and East Riding Theatre’s websites. Our MINI CRITICS’ CLUB offers a key opportunity to listen to young patrons, understand their experience watching The Fairy Who Fell Off the Christmas Tree, & learn from this. MINI CRITICS’ CLUB is a pilot programme that She Productions hopes to further develop and impact the creative process of future projects.

She Productions is company in residence at East Riding Theatre and, since forming in 2015, has produced 12 original shows, including 6 family musicals. The company is dedicated to creating family shows during school holidays, providing affordable, high-quality entertainment for local children and their families. She Productions is a registered charity serving the East Riding, and does not receive regular public funding.
She Productions has developed a variety of programmes via 3 strands: She Engages, She Inspires and She Empowers, corresponding to, respectively, outreach work, theatre for young people and their families, and theatre for everyone.
She Productions has a strong focus on ‘edutainment’, which is using entertainment as a vehicle for social change via productions and outreach work, meaning that all family shows have educational themes and focus on social issues.
Through the development of the company over the years, and planned development for the future, She Productions has firmly rooted itself in the East Riding, with plans to continue engaging rural audiences and working with intergenerational communities to create relevant and accessible work.

We know that not everyone can contribute financially, but there are other ways in which you can support us. If you know anyone who would be interested in the production please send them to our website www.sheproductions.co.uk, social media or email us on: [email protected]
