Thanks so much for organising these, Lemn. I live in Manchester and years ago used to live on the Colville Estate in Hackney, just near to the New Era Estate. It is great what you are doing.

I believe in this project with my heart and soul which is why I started it. Last year The Manchester Christmas Dinner Team raised as much finance in 2013 (via crowdfunder) as The Hackney Team have this year. This money will easily pay for this Christmas 2014 and I am hoping it will pay for 2015 too. The Hackney Christmas Dinner is brought together by a group of dedicated individuals whom I have sourced. You can do this anywhere in the country but that team is crucial. The Hackney Christmas Dinner splits into distinct areas. Each area is given rigorous attention. The list is as follows: Venue, Referrals (the young adults), Volunteers, Presents, Travel, Food, Crowdfunder. It takes just twelve (or so) people and six meetings in total to make it happen. I will be making a Christmas Dinner Pack to show how I've done it for the past two years. But why is this funding platform - Crowdfunder - successful. This success is not just about reaching the target. For me it is equally successful that it comes from many many many many different people. This is what moves me. You are supporting the care leaver and you are taking responsibility for the care leaver as a part of your life. This means much more to me. In such a way we can all care a little more for each other, by words on the one hand and by action in the other. Superman was a foster child, Lisbeth Salander (the girl with a dragon tatoo) was fostered adopted and in childrens homes, Harry Potter was a foster child. Cinderella was fostered.... Oliver Twist.... Children leaving care are no different.... they need us to support them too, just like their fictional reflections...

Would of loved something like this when I was a care leaver, Christmas can be a sad and lonely time when you have no family and/or no home, you feel like you don't belong anywhere. This is a really great cause and although I cant afford to pledge a lot I hope my small contribution helps you reach the £5000 target in time. Have a really brilliant Christmas day! xx

pauline.joy - I used my partner's credit card on the Paypal this morning and the payment went through fine. Sorry you had such hassle, but thanks for taking the trouble and pledging money despite the hassle - much appreciated.
