The Canteens project

The Canteens project

Supporting the vulnerable and bringing the community together, offering advice, support, training and hot meals, every day.

We did it!

On 25th Apr 2017 we successfully raised £16,300 of £16,000 target with 106 supporters in 43 days

New stretch target

With this extra money we will be able to pay for a 8 months of rent, provide a programme of free cooking classes and workshops  set up with and for youth - supporting young people to make visible change through community action.

Would you believe that many of the people you walk past on you way to work have gone a whole day without eating? This is a shocking reality for 3/4 of the people we work with.

Be Enriched and Brixton People's Kitchen are fundraising to turn an disused building into a community hub. It will provide regular consistant support for the people in the community who have no where to turn to when in need. Our projects run 4 times a week, from a variety of venues, feeding people suffering from food poverty, social isolation, loneliness who are elderly or in recovery. But they need us to do this everyday.

The Community Canteen will provide essential social interaction, access to advice services, arts and crafts, games and a cafe.  We'd be serving up much more than a meal and helping bring people in from the cold promoting inclusivity and community.

We will be running more projects like this alongside young people:

We will also provide volunteering opportunites for everyone,  training for young people in catering and social enterprise, affordable co-working spaces for local small businesses,  as well as creating a space that local catering businesses can benifit from.

We know times are hard so our campaign is simple.

Donate a few bob and recieve a voucher to be redeemed at our new building for some lovely cake, a bowl of our renowned soup, a cookbook, dinner or workspace time.

With your help the Community Can!
