This church is one of the very few beautiful buildings left in Sunderland and was important to my family, some of whom were buried there. Please preserve it

Geoffrey Dack 4th March 2018

We've lost too many of our best buildings; think no further than the old Town Hall! I think we're cottoning on now, thankfully, before any more iconic landmarks are lost. I'd love to see this grand old building preserved and used, as is now planned, for the benefit of the residents of Sunderland. And, of course, I love my home town!

Preserving the built heritage of "old" Sunderland is so important for future generations to understand the history and development of the city. So little is left, so please help by donating.

Anthony Ormeston Coates 22nd February 2018

It's sad that remedial action has not been taken earlier. It's a classic building. The projected programme will enhance the City's amenity and should be the subject of a wide ranging publicity campaign.

Mary Richardson 21st February 2018

Good luck in your future endeavours to conserve this historic site. My mother’s family was from this area and their ancestry dates from at least 1840. This donation is pledged in her memory.

Salena atkinson 21st February 2018

We really need to save this important part of Sunderlands heritage it's an important part of the whole history of Sunderland and it needs to be part of the community that it belongs to .It should be a pride of Sunderland and I hope the church reaches its goal.

Sandra Brown 20th February 2018

Everyone uses the church for christenings weddings & funerals, can you just imagine if there were no more churches, what a horrible prospect losing these beautiful, reverend buildings that we ALL need and use at some point in our lives.

Chris Cade 16th February 2018

I very much enjoyed performing my one man adaptation of 'A Christmas Carol' in the Canny Space to local Primary School groups and to a community audience in December 2015. I was made so welcome and would love to return one day. Good luck with your project!

Anthony Bennett 14th February 2018

The Canny Space will have a genuinely transformational impact on the East End of Sunderland, and is probably one of the most beautiful buildings in our care- this appeal will vouchsafe it for another 300 years.
