I first established my ideas to support 3rd world countries through lingerie when I did a charity hitch hike for link community development in 2015. I realised that not wearing a bra in these countries was a symbol of poverty and those without are more likely to be the target of rape or sexual abuse. I began to think about this more and more which led me to think about bras worn everyday and what material goes into them. Upon research, I established that plastic contains cancer causing chemicals yet almost all bras contain some form of plastic including many materials used to make lingerie which is located close to the breast tissue and most sensitive areas of the body. The need for more ethical and sustainable lingerie is greatly neglected and through the successful start up of my own lingerie line, I hope to raise awareness, play my role in reducing plastic and waste and support those in third world countries in the fight to reduce poverty and exploitation.
