To run a free event as a part of 'The Big Draw Festival'. Give children the chance to engage in The Arts through creating and observing.
Arts2Educate is putting on a 3-day event as a part of ‘The Big Draw Festival’ which is free for the local community. It is an opportunity for families and groups to be together and celebrate where we live through being creative.
Arts2Educate’s Big Draw event will work with the theme ‘Graffiti’. Techniques will be taught to make up their own Graffiti Tags and Banksy-like images to all go onto a final piece of work. Arts2Educate would want each young person who gets involved to make the project personal to them. If they enjoy football, that will be a part of their project. If they enjoy dancing, that will be a part of their project. Anything goes!
As well as this, a range of artists will be a part of the event and live-drawing to inspire young people as well as adults. There will be opportunities to talk with the artists, so getting to know the talents in the local community.
On day 3 of the event Arts2Educate is proposing a celebration of all the art work that is produced by displaying it around the Sovereign Centre. On this day there will be young local musicians performing throughout the day.
What will your money go towards? Arts2Educate wants the event to be as Great as possible for Dorset. Any money raised will go towards resources for the event such as paint, card, colouring pencils, it will help with the advertising of the event to ensure as many young people and families know about it. As well as this Arts2Educate feels passionate about paying the artists involved so will all help towards this. I am currently applying for funding through The Arts Council so I hope that the rest will go through them.
We are really lucky to have been given the Sovereign Centre as the venue, and have confirmed some donations of resources from the Dorset Scrapstore. Thank you so much in advance for any contribution, every small donation will go towards what I hope will be a Great event.
