This project will be mainly funded by the clubs own fundraising efforts, volunteer labour, material and monetary donations.

The club has entered into considerable loan agreements to fund this project and whilst we have received some direct support so far, we still need as much help as possible to push us over the line.

Please help spread the word to raise the funds we need to achieve this worthy goal.

Can You Help Thongsbridge Cricket Club To Build a New Clubhouse ?

The Idea

We are creating more than just a clubhouse for TCC. We are building a friendly, welcoming, and fully equipped venue where the community can meet, have a drink, a bite to eat and support the sporting ambitions of those in our area - cricketing and beyond. The project is ambitious, but will benefit our members, visitors and the local community for years to come.

About

In 1860, a group of local players got together at our Miry Lane ground and started to build a lasting legacy for the people of the Holme Valley, when they formed Thongsbridge Cricket Club.

In the early days, a horse called Captain, wearing special shoes to protect the wicket, dutifully pulled the mower to keep the ground in good order. 158 years on and having survived two world wars, the club has grown from strength to strength. The people of the Holme Valley are not only maintaining our local heritage and tradition, but they are set to grow the club even more and build for future generations.

Considerable improvements have been made in recent years, with newly refurbished changing facilities, as well as many other improvements to the ground. TCC is now a thriving club, with a successful, junior section, girls’ teams, a women’s softball cricket team, successful senior teams and a number of players achieving representative honours at the highest levels.

We have a history of supporting local charities such as Kirkwood Hospice, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and more recently the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Holmfirth High School uses the ground on a weekly basis throughout the summer and local junior schools hold sports and social events at the ground too. The Yorkshire Terriers Disability Cricket team are now annual visitors and play some of its annual fixtures here.

The club is focused on developing its own players from juniors, right through to the senior teams. We are back in the Premiership after many years in lower divisions and we are making our presence known! The club is improving in many ways, year after year, but the last piece of the jigsaw in our development plan, is to transform our dilapidated, prefabricated clubhouse.

It is now too small and has no indoor toilet facilities or running hot water. We hope to transform this into a fantastic new facility, fit for purpose and ready to celebrate an amazing 160 years of cricket in 2020! Not simply a building for summer use but a facility which can be utilised all year round by the whole community.

Due to funding constraints, we are not able to employ a building contractor, so all the work to create the new facility has to be done by our own members. This will involve thousands of hours of hard work. So that everyone can feel part of this exciting venture, we are delighted to be able to present our Crowdfunding UK site. Big or small, all contributions are gratefully received in order to bring this worthwhile project to fruition. This a unique opportunity to help secure the future of a historic local club for future generations to enjoy.

Why We Need Your Help

This project will be mainly funded by the clubs own fundraising efforts, volunteer labour, material and monetary donations.

The club has entered into considerable loan agreements to fund this project and whilst we have received some direct support so far, we still need as much help as possible to push us over the line in time for April 2019. We are well on our way to completing our clubhouse, but need a final fundraising push to help things along! Please help spread the word to raise the funds we need to achieve this worthy goal.

Crowdfunder UK and Sport England

Whilst crowdfunding has been around for centuries, Crowdfunder UK has enabled many groups and individuals to achieve their goals, by helping to reach a much bigger audience, via the internet. We are delighted to be supported in this fundraising initiative, by Sport England, who have generously agreed to match funding up to a total of £1500 ,with a minimum of 40 donations required. We need your help to achieve this, but hopefully we can spread the word through Crowdfunder .UK to help our project in the final push for completion.

Thank You

We really appreciate every penny donated to our project and are sure you will enjoy being part of such a positive community project. All donations and support will be recognised in a commemorative display in the new clubhouse.
