We need more funds than ever to meet the enormous challenge of reversing wildlife decline across Birmingham, Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton.
For almost 40 years The Wildlife Trust for Birmingham and the Black Country has worked to protect, create, connect and enhance habitats depleted by development, plastic pollution and climate change so the 131 local threatened species, like hedgehogs, otters, kestrels and kingfishers, can thrive. Humanity has wiped out 60% of animal populations since 1970*.
The huge loss is a tragedy in itself but also threatens the survival of civilisation according to leading scientists. From ancient woodlands providing homes for bats and hedgehogs to wildflower meadows encouraging the pollinators for them to feed on, each of our wild spaces is a valuable diverse community of species.
