WHO ARE WE?

The Parker Brewery is a small,  family run brewery based in rural Banks on the outskirts of Southport.  This independent business founded in 2014, has introduced craft ale to the local area and has built up a strong following for both its high quality, traditional beers and its quirky brewery events and festivals which now form part of the local social scene.  The owner and brewer Rick Parker has a commitment to producing hand-crafted ales that stick to traditional recipes and guarantee a flavoursome pint!

WHAT IS THIS PROJECT?

The micro-pub is an extension to the brewery and is intended to showcase both The Parker Ales and also a range of locally produced drinks.  For example; two fantastic small local distilleries - Forgan (Banks) and Turncoat (Liverpool) both producing excellent gin, rum and vodka.  It's all about quality at affordable prices, offering an alternative to corporate pubs and bars.   It is Rick's intention that The Beer Den becomes part of the Duke St/Shakespeare St revolution - but it needs local support to compete with the high street giants.

The Beer Den will have four real ale lines with 50% Parker Ales and 50% guest ales as well as a selection of keg beers - Goose Island Midway IPA, Spaten Munich Lager and Franziskaner Wheat Beer.

Rick, and his manager Kie, aim to create a warm, friendly bar where people can sit and enjoy a unique range of local and regional ales, lager, ciders and spirits as well as coffee and soft drinks.  In addition, The Beer Den will stock a selection of wines  - sourced by Rick and his wife Karen, both having spent over 20 years in the wine trade working for House of Townend, Oddbins and Vintage Cellars in Melbourne.  Karen is particularly impressed with the new Prosecco and is sure it will become a firm favourite.

DO WE DO RETAIL TOO?

Yes! The range of bottled beers and wine will be available to purchase at The Beer Den.  This offers an alternative choice to the off-licence chains in the area.  The retail selection will be available to consume  in the bar and you can take home what you don't drink!

WHAT EVENTS WILL WE HOLD?

Events are our thing!   Meet the brewer, wine and gin tastings as well as a book clubs, pie clubs and home brew clubs are just some examples.  Rick hopes local groups will see the Beer Den as a potential meeting venue and opens an invitation to any interested groups to get in touch with suggestions.  The venue can also be hired for private events by arrangement.  The link to the Brewery itself means that Beer Den customers will get a chance to visit the brewery with specially linked events.

WHAT REWARDS ARE WE OFFERING OUR SUPPORTERS?

This campaign will reward those people that support us in our first steps into the extension of the successful Parker Brewery.  We want to become an integral part of the local area and create a unique experience adding to Southport's beer scene. Rewards are listed on this site as pledges and we are very grateful for your support.

WHEN ARE WE OPENING?

Work is happening on site now and those people who have already popped in and welcomed us have seen how much has changed!  We are excited with the progress so far, and hope to be open in early October 2018.

Please help us achieve our aim of regenerating this part of Duke St and creating a successful local micro-pub to serve the Southport community and beyond.  Check out our rewards and we are grateful for any support and look forward to a drink with you at the bar!  Up-to-date information about our progress can also be found on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/thebeerden/

Cheers!
