This is Andy, the kindest and most honest car mechanic in the UK.
This lovely chap took pity on my friend who bought a car which died not 20 minutes after she picked it up, narrowly avoiding disaster in the process. The disreputable seller closed ranks with his dodgy mechanic mate in Southampton, and she was left with a £4000 car reduced instantly to scrap value as the required repairs would have cost the same as what she paid for the car. The worst outcome all round. The evidence is just not strong enough to risk the time and effort to sue him, and she does not have the means to do that anyway.
Andy stripped the car down, tried absolutely everything over a period of some weeks to find a cost-effective solution. He could not have been more amazing. Now that the verdict is the car needs to be scrapped, he won't agree to bill a penny in return for all the time he has spent on it, because he knows my friend's personal situation cannot stretch to that expense. She is having a run of bad luck on top of misfortune that beggars belief, but to protect her family's privacy I cannot name her or go into too much detail. Suffice to say, she is a wonderful person in need of a bit of luck and kindness.
I'm not asking you to donate to buy her a new car (although if you have a spare reliable one that you can sell for a bargain price, we're all ears!) but I would like to find a way to express our gratitude to Andy, and his colleague Ashley too, who have been incredibly kind and compassionate. If you would like to help, as a way of thanking someone who went above and beyond anything he could possibly have "had" to do, our thanks go out to you too.
You can find details of his business here
EDIT: I realised I should say what I intend to do with whatever is raised: I am hoping to be able to cover some of the costs of the free time Andy and Ashley have dedicated to trying to sort this out for my friend. I will ask him to accept it as gift vouchers, but if he won't accept these, then I will ask him to nominate a charity close to his heart to receive the proceeds. Any which way you look at it, your donation is going to do some good and spread some love, so THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
