My daughter Emily and I went to Kenya in 2017 when we met about 80 orphans in the region of Ukumbani. Their parents died of AIDS and they live with their grandparents, who are very poor. We made friends with one girl, also called Emily and we started paying her school fees, £500 per year. Now we need to raise another £500 for next years school fees. Two years ago we met Odhilia, (who is the sister of my friend Cecilia, who I worked with when I was a teacher in Nakuru 30 years ago!) During the school holidays the children are often very hungry as the grandparents are not able to grow enough food for them. So they walk miles to visit Odhilia and she gives them food. We would like to raise money to give to Odhilia to help feed them.
We are planning the sponsored walk for September 29th, 10 miles of the Sheffield Round Walk again. In 2017 it took us 7.5 hours. Last year it was 6.5 hours so maybe we can walk it faster this year! Please will you sponsor us to help these children.
