We are aiming to raise £15,000 to cover the shortfall in income caused by Covid-19.

New stretch target

The response has been overwhelming, with so many more members yet to donate, so we are going to push our target up...

We have increased the target even further, as we still have lots of subs to get in...

Who are we?

Thornbury Cricket Club is a local sports club in South Gloucestershire.  The club is open to all and run entirely by volunteers.  Our aim is to encourage greater participation in cricket - both physically and socially - across every part of our local community.

The Club runs a highly successful junior section, with over 180 children regularly playing from ages 5 through to 19.  We are looking to further increase those numbers over the coming years, as well as focusing on developing Girls cricket – all this will be achieved through the dedication of our network of volunteers.

Across the entire club, we have in excess of 500 members. We also run an ECB All Stars and Dynamos programmes for 5-11 year olds.

Community Outreach

We are an active social hub for the local community and our facilities are used by and shared with various other voluntary groups and local schools.  We regularly host events for local Football, Running, and Crib clubs, and also host family events, ranging from birthday parties and celebrations to wakes, and a weekly coffee morning club for the public.  This community outreach is a key part of our club development, and we strive to engage and support as many of the local community as possible, both cricket and non-cricket playing, through our friendly and inclusive environment.

Impact of Covid – The club stands to lose £20,000

Thornbury CC has always been financially self-sufficient, but the ongoing Covid situation is having a big impact on our income.  Nearly all our revenue is generated through matches, the bar and social events during the summer.  This income enables us to cover our costs for the whole year, but with none of these activities happening, our income levels are negligible, and we are estimating over a £20,000 shortfall in 2020.

Any money raised through this crowdfunding page will therefore help us cover our annual ‘fixed’ running costs which primarily include ground (£6k) and clubhouse (£14k) maintenance throughout the year.  To support our investments towards Girls cricket, we also have some maintenance needed on the ladies toilet facilities.

How can you help us?

As a volunteer-run club, we need to generate donations from members, families, friends and the wider community to help us cover the shortfall, and ensure we can support all our cricket and community initiatives over the next 18 months.

The club has been approved for a Sport England fund match, meaning they will match (and effectively double) whatever you give up to £10k.  For example if you were to donate £50, the club would receive £100!

You can donate however much you feel comfortable with; we are well aware that individuals have also been hit hard financially by the impact of Covid. We welcome all support, big or small, and encourage people to consider donating in one of the following ways:

Membership donations – we would ask people to consider donating the cost of their membership of the 2020 season.

Adult Players - £50

Junior/Student Players - £40

Donation towards Girls Cricket 2020/21 - £30

Ball Sponsorship - £50

Straight donations - you can just use the box on the top right of the donation page to give whatever you choose.

As time goes on, we may introduce more opportunities to get involved and donate too, so watch this space!

We are confident that our club and community spirit will help Thornbury Cricket Club reach our target, and raise the funds we need to keep operating, and in turn support our cricket and community initiatives.

We thank you in advance for your support.

Finally, a practical point ....

If you do donate in one of the above ways, please could you put a note in the comments box to clarify what/who your donation covers or contact Toby Summerfield via tobysummerfield77@gmail.com
