Why do we need your help? Takeley Parish Council want to turn this derelict building that sits at the heart of our community into a much needed meeting point for many aspects of the local community for social, recreational, environmental and educational needs in a village that has doubled in size in the past 20 years. Currently sat unused for over 10 years, we want to make sure that we are making our local environment better. Not only through the refurbishment of the building but also the site it occupies by creating an area for pollinators as part of the landscaping of the surrounding area. We have begun the work to transform the current run down site to become home to a number of village facilities. These will include the Takeley Youth Club, the Community Cafe, Citizens Advice Outreach for Uttlesford Food Bank, Parish Council Office and home for the records and archives of the village. All these activities help to give Takeley a healthy and vibrant village life but also provide advice and help to those in need. We expect that we'll be seeing 150 people a week using the facility across the different activities. What do we want to do? We want to bring back to life this building and to renovate it to be a hub for all the community to use. This funding will make it fit for a second century of service for the community.
Takeley Parish Council has already got the first phase funding to enable to get the building secure for winter. We need this grant to help with the next phase to begin the update of the building internally to create the community hub and the outside area to be a haven for pollinators. This is where we need the much needed funds and how your contributions via Crowdfunder will really help us. Securing this funding through Crowdfunder will help deliver against the final phase of development to see the facility open as a hub not only for the community, helping all aspects of our local environment from the pollinators to the people of Takeley.
