Men Walking Tall are holding a charity football tournament 'Tackling the Stigma' and family day to promote men's mental health.
This will be held on Saturday 24th July 2021 at The Deanery High School sports facility in Wigan, WN1 1HQ
The day comprises of a 5-a-side football tournament to run alongside our stalls, food truck, fully licensed bar and presentation. We also have access the the fully licensed bar at the adjacent Wigan Sports Club.
We are fundraising to help fund a safe place we can call 'home' where our members can meet and we can provide peer support to help guide them through difficult times. Our mentors have experienced many of life's hardships including depression, anxiety, addiction, bereavement and family problems and are on hand to openly speak to our community members to offer support.
Our mission here at "Men Walking Tall" is to make a real change. We aim to make this change by; Educating others on depression, anxiety and all other mental health issues then getting people the correct help/support that they need. We are aiming to get people socializing again by facilitating safe places and encouraging them to do activities enabling better mental and physical health.
Our mission is also to help drop the social stigma attached to men's mental health and reiterate that it is okay to not be okay.
Originally our contact time was via the medium of walking but as our numbers grow we find ourselves looking for a premises to hold groups in a safe environment on a regular basis, and the donations received will go a long way in helping us secure this.
Thankyou for your support.
