In the year that the Cricket World Cup arrived in this country Spring View Cricket and Bowling Club have made it our aim to introduce cricket to as many young children as possible. Via the ECB backed All Stars Cricket initiative we currently have around 40 children, under 9 years old, that have decided to give it a go. The majority of these children are brand new to the sport.
The next step for us is to engage these youngsters into the sport for years to come, aiding both their physical and mental well-being.
By contributing to our Crowdfunding page you will be helping to remove some of the cost barriers for our youngsters. We aim to raise £1000 to contribute towards training equipment and kit to allow as many youngsters as possible to continue on with their sporting journey.
We aim to provide every junior member with a playing shirt for the 2020 season.
Spring View Cricket and Bowling Club has been on the border of Platt Bridge and Spring View since 1926. Over the last few years it has however become a real hub in the community due to a number of other venues closing down and an improvement in our facilities.
We currently have cricket teams of boys and girls at under 9s, under 11s, under13s, under15s, under18s and under 19s. We also have three open age teams.
In addition to this we have 6 crown green bowling teams and a rounders team that call us home plus a number of other community users of all ages, ability, gender, nationality, etc.
This scheme is aimed at the youngest children in our community to allow them to grow a love of the game and be able to still be playing sport long into their futures. We feel that this will improve not only their physical health but also their mental health giving each them a better chance of a positive future.
