Scouting has been in our area for about 100 years but 1st Theale Scout Troop wasn’t officially registered with the Scout Association until after the Second World War in 1947.
Many years later a Cub Scout Pack opened in the Calcot area. As the area developed and grew, so did the demand for scouting. Within the last 20 years, Scouting in Theale and Calcot merged and became 1st Theale & Calcot Scout Group and has grown substantially to three Beaver Colonies, three Cub Packs, two Scout Troops and a District Explorer Unit.
Like many groups we are adapting to the circumstances that we now find ourselves in and are finding new and innovative ways to continue to connect with and engage our young people even though we are not able to meet up in person at the moment.
We are supporting our families by reducing subs etc. during this time but we do still incur running costs so the aim of our fundraising is to maintain the group's success so that when we are able to organise outdoor activities and adventures again they are affordable to all our families.
