Hadston House is a not for profit organisation. In recent months since March an 18% increase in families needing to access free school meals has taken place. Much of this is down to parents losing jobs and people finding themselves in a position needing support from others. Over 8818 children in Northumberland with our area being one of the highest child poverty areas in the Constituency.
Here at Hadston House we operate a meals on wheels service for older people with our community cafe and we are going to extend the offer to children/families who need it in coming weeks. We will offer FREE food to young people of school age and continue to use our foodbank and donation services to support the wider family where we can. We ask if you have a donation to make however big or small to help us run this until at least Easter when we hope the COVID 19 situation will be under control.
If Councils or Government were to make a U-turn we will look to offer other services for children during winter months and ensure the money is put to good use. But we expect no change and all funds will go towards food, containers, bags etc......
Hadston House always puts local people first and we want all struggling families to know that the community cares.
