London City Runners was born 10 years ago on 9th May 2010. We've grown from this first meeting of just 6 people into one of London’s biggest and best known running clubs. Over the years we’ve had 1000s of members who have formed a huge community around us and even built our own clubhouse. We bring together 100s of runners every week and host training sessions, socials, workshops, and unique events for the entire running community.
Sadly, the pandemic is hitting community sport clubs like ours very hard. The current Coronavirus restrictions mean our clubhouse has had to stay shut and we cannot meet in person to train. We’ve had to cancel some exciting events we had planned for 2020 and move to being a virtual club. Overnight our club’s income dropped to zero.
As soon as we were shut down we took action to reduce our running costs as much as possible. However these measures were only temporary and once we are able to meet up we will also have the challenge of meeting our full overheads while complying with potential restrictions by the government. We aren’t sure how long these will go on for, and therefore we’ll need to come up with innovative ways to keep the club ticking along until the world returns to normal.
Any donations we receive are always very much appreciated. Everything raised will help towards the continued running costs of the club including overheads at the clubhouse, track rental fees, and insurance. Our club has survived a lot over the years and still managed to thrive. With the continued support of our members and friends it can continue to thrive through 2020 despite the current crisis.
