We did it
On 4th August 2020 we successfully raised £6,109 with 110 supporters in 67 days

Help our club keep running whatever COVID 19 may bring. With your help the club can not only survive this crisis but thrive into 2020

New stretch target

We had some exciting plans for 2020 before the COVID pandemic hit. Our club’s 10th birthday came and went on 9th May, and we would have marked this milestone with a party and a 10k race through the streets of Bermondsey later this year. We were planning some one-off events at the track. We were also building up funds to expand our opening hours and our couch to 5k program to help the local community get more active. Finally we we were also investing in training of some of our volunteers as running leaders and coaches. Any additional funding will be put towards making sure these initiatives can still continue successfully to the benefit of all our members.

About Us

London City Runners was born 10 years ago on 9th May 2010. We've grown from this first meeting of just 6 people into one of London’s biggest and best known running clubs. Over the years we’ve had 1000s of members who have formed a huge community around us and even built our own clubhouse. We bring together 100s of runners every week and host training sessions, socials, workshops, and unique events for the entire running community.

Our challenge

Sadly, the pandemic is hitting community sport clubs like ours very hard. The current Coronavirus restrictions mean our clubhouse has had to stay shut and we cannot meet in person to train. We’ve had to cancel some exciting events we had planned for 2020 and move to being a virtual club. Overnight our club’s income dropped to zero.

As soon as we were shut down we took action to reduce our running costs as much as possible. However these measures were only temporary and once we are able to meet up we will also have the challenge of meeting our full overheads while complying with potential restrictions by the government. We aren’t sure how long these will go on for, and therefore we’ll need to come up with innovative ways to keep the club ticking along until the world returns to normal.

Any donations we receive are always very much appreciated. Everything raised will help towards the continued running costs of the club including overheads at the clubhouse, track rental fees, and insurance. Our club has survived a lot over the years and still managed to thrive.  With the continued support of our members and friends it can continue to thrive through 2020 despite the current crisis.
