New stretch target
A long term goal for the club is to expand our membership to more minority groups across our neighbourhood and offer assistance to families with lower income and remove financial barriers to swimming.
We are raising funds to ensure our swimming club survives through the Covid-19 crisis. We aim to get all of our swimmers back in the pool

A long term goal for the club is to expand our membership to more minority groups across our neighbourhood and offer assistance to families with lower income and remove financial barriers to swimming.
Who we are
We have over 40 years experience of providing the best opportunity for children and young people to excel in swimming in the London Borough of Havering. The Club caters for the very youngest through to our Masters section, but above all we are a club for those children and young people who want to achieve their potential in competitive swimming.
In addition to coaching, the club also teaches children how to swim in its Learn-to-Swim School. It is normally from teaching children how to swim that they show an interest to progress on and swim competitively. The club is able to satisfy the child’s swim development needs through its transitional section the Super Swimming Group. It is during this period that the child’s abilities and desire will equalise providing them with the basis to move into the structured swimming squads.
By following the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) National Teaching Plan the club ensure that swimmers are developed to recognised levels using proven methods. The club has many hours of pool time available throughout different swimming pools within the borough. This diverse spread of pools at varying times ensures that needs of each swimmer whether it be teaching, developing, coaching can reasonably be met, thus maximising the individual swimmer’s potential.
The club has won many honours including National Age Group Championships Top Club Title, Regional Top Club and Essex County Championships Top Club. More than forty years after its foundation we continue to produce County Champions, London Region Champions and National finalists.
In short the club is proud to boast that the name Killerwhales is synonymous with the word success.
Why are we raising funds?
We are a not for profit organisation, fully self funding though our members monthly fees. Since the Covid-19 pandemic started all the pool facilities which we use have been closed and our swimmers have been unable to meet and train together.
Due to individual personal circumstances, many families have been unable to continue to pay the monthly subscriptions and as a small family club we have happily allowed them to reduce their fees or cease payment entirely during this period. However, we have still had to "keep the lights on" and our expenses have exceeded our income.
With limited pools available for hire and limited swimmers allowed back in the pool we are currently running at loss and face closure if we can not raise funds to see us though this unprecedented times.
What will the money be used for?
Now that pools are starting to re-open we are working hard to reserve enough pool time to allow all of our swimmers to return to the lessons that they have been sorely missing these last few months.
We currently have around half of our 200 swimmers back in regular lessons but still need to secure funding to ensure that our youngest swimmers can return as soon as possible. These much needed funds will help to ensure these local families can once again resume their swimming.
The funds will go towards paying for the additional pool hire and staffing and will allow our youngest swimmers to return tot he swimming that they have been missing.
Partner funding can increase the total we raise!
Crowdfunder and Sport England have teamed up to make £1 million of match funding available to help the sport and physical activity sector through the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
We have applied for fund matching through this scheme. If successful Sport England will contribute to our cause and help get our swimmers back even faster. This means any donations via Crowdfunder will mean your donations can make an even bigger difference to our club and our swimmers.
