Hackney Caribbean Elderly Organisation has been running for over 33 years.
We provide services for elders (mainly 70+) including a day service, arts and crafts, advocacy and a mental wellbeing group.  We run vibrant, interesting services for elderly people which are well attended.

We are currently in need of funds to continue to run these services as current funding streams will be significantly reduced in the very near future.

This means that without adequate funds to fill the shortfall we will have to significantly reduce our service provision to our client group before the end of 2018. These are important services for elderly people living in Hackney who in many cases only interact and find fellowship with others when they attend our centre; who only eat a warm, substantial meal when they are with us.

Comments from attendees:

" I love to come here. I can talk with everyone. I feel happy when I can come and talk and laugh with everybody"

" I come to HCEO twice a week. I enjoy talking to people rather than the TV. I enjoy coming here and I hope I can come for a long time. The tea dance and exercise are really nice and we are like recycled teenagers.

We have a small dedicated staff team who work hard to make sure our services are delivered to the high standard that elderly people deserve. Our staff are mainly part-time workers who also give their time voluntarily so that our high standards are maintained.

The funds we are requesting will be used to fund building running costs and transport costs. Our transport facility is important to our elders as a large proportion of them need to be picked up, taken to the centre and taken back home at the end of the day.

If we raise enough we will also be able to hire two support workers who will help us support our most vulnerable elders at the centre with moving around, eating and participating with activities. These are the individuals most in need of support when they attend.

We know that we can achieve our goal of 33K if you are willing to help us, so please give generously.

Thank you.
