Eight of England's ten most deprived neighbourhoods are in Blackpool. The Blackpool Food Partnership provides a vital support service, normally distributing to 70 organisations and individuals across the region.
In the face of the current emergency, Blackpool Food Bank will be supplying door step drop food parcels to residents who are unable to access food because they are confined to their homes. This will be a safety net for those who do not have family or friends to help them and are therefore very vulnerable in this present crisis.
The Food Bank is also running a hot food service 7 days a week for the homeless in the town who are now living in B&B accommodation but have no access to cooking facilities. This provides breakfast lunch and dinner to this vulnerable group who have no other way off accessing a meal.
£4,000 will help buy one week's worth of essentials, including Pasta & Rice, Tinned Goods, Long-Life Milk, Cereal, Pasta Sauces, Rice Pudding or Custard, Biscuits, Fresh Fruit & Veg, and Bread. £40,000 will therefore support the service for the next 10 weeks.
Now, more than ever, we need support to source food for the community, given the exponential rises in demand and costs.
