CLASSS provides heavily-subsidised supplementary education classes, based on individual/small-group tuition, to 55 disadvantaged children aged 6-16. We started in response to a survey by headteachers that uncovered a need for our service.
We benefit deprived local communities: children mainly come from Chapeltown/Harehills (2 of most deprived areas nationally) but our children come from all over Leeds.
Classes develop children's skills in English, Maths and transferable skills such as problem-solving and teamwork. Recent activities also include a theatre trip and 10th Birthday celebration where children led the public speaking.
We benefit the city because after-school tuition is increasingly common (for exam preparation etc.) and should not be a privilege to only those children whose parents can afford a significant extra expense.
The funds raised will help to provide funding for the classrooms to support the lessons. Do support us and contact us to find out more!
