As a humanitarian worker and cross cultural researcher, my work has exposed me to the many challenges that refugees, and IDPs face. I have listened to the stories of victims of conflicts around the world. These stories bring tears to the eyes. Refugees suffer so much at home, during their flight and in the new environment where they run to for safety. Many of them witnessed the gruesome murder of loved ones or family members. Women, girls and boys are constantly violated. Because of the nature of their flight, they lack money to afford shelter, food, health care, or education for their children. They lose their livelihood.
All of these sufferings impact negatively on the mental health of refugees. Many of them suffer Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Psychosis or outright Schizophrenia because they found themselves in highly unbearable conditions.
When we donate to help a refugee, it is a debt that might be repaid to us someday, because we do not know who will be the next victim of conflict, political persecution or even natural disaster.
Afghan refugees need our support. Let's lend a helping hand to humanity.
No donation is small.
Thank you so much for standing with Afghans at this time!
