Fortismere Sixth Form Counselling Support
The Sixth Form is a new beginning, but is also a crucial time for young people as they transition to adulthood and into the wider world of university, work or apprenticeships. We have a strong emphasis on nurturing the wellbeing of our students during these years, however times are increasingly tough for young people and even more resilience is required to navigate all the demands they face.
Fortismere Sixth Form alone holds nearly 500 students. As there is no catchment, the demographic reaches far and wide - geographically, socio-economically and culturally. We work to support students through a vast range of challenges to their wellbeing, exacerbated by the ever increasing pressures of today's society. Despite being high on the political agenda, mental health support in state schools is still a massively underfunded area, particularly in the post-16 arena.
In addition to a strong pastoral system (the Sixth Form Leadership team, tutors and a pastoral manager), we want to provide our students with access to professional, therapeutic input when turbulent times do occur in their lives. Such counselling provision is expensive and we want to continue to offer access to this service when they really do need it. Thank you for your support.
