Help Our Wounded Heroes To Attend Premiership Rugby @ Harlequins
STUBS (as in "ticket stubs") is a registered charity that works to support the rehabilitation and social reintegration of the UK's most seriously injured servicemen and women during their time at DMRC Headley Court, the main tri-service rehabiliation facility near Epsom. We do this by hosting the wounded at sports and cultural events.
Rugby is the top attraction for our guests, and this year we're aiming to raise enough funds to attend at least seven home games at the Twickenham Stoop. Due to their injuries, we host our guests in a hospitality box, giving them lunch prior to the match, and the opportunity to win signed Quins memorabilia in our match draw. Quins players usually make a visit, and we ensure that our guests get a signed souvenir photo.
Our events aren't just a day out away from the confines of the rehab programme at Headley Court. They have great therapeutic value, putting both amputees and those with neurological trauma into safe and secure public settings, boosting their confidence, and creating a "can do" buzz that runs through into their next week of heavy physiotherapy and rehabilitation. In short, it works!
STUBS is run by unpaid volunteers, and every penny raised via Crowdfunder will be spent on our guests. Your help is invaluable in supporting our efforts to ensure that the UK's most seriously wounded servicemen and women are given every opportunity to recover.
