“Steven Shepherd’s short life beheld just one very special day amidst his world of total and utter torment.”

The crew and cast, that I have assembled, to create Strawberry Fields Forever are committed to its message.

1589469686_images-1.jpgThat being"bullying is a lethal weapon" - unbeknown to us we may have inadvertently contributed to someone's death. At the very least affected their life - negatively. A throwaway comment. A sneer. A sarcastic smile. A gesture. A punch. A kick. A laugh. A joke.

Easily done.

1589469722_bullying.jpgWe have all seen, and probably have witnessed in our own lives the devastating effect that bullying, in any shape or form can have on individuals and their families and friends.

Strawberry Fields Forever, is based on the true story of the UK's first recorded victim of bullycide - suicide as a direct result of being bullied.1589470024_steven_shepherd.jpg

Steven Shepherd was just 11 years old.

On January 25th, 1967, late afternoon, having been to the cinema, he did not return home.

His body was found 55 days later in a ditch close to the strawberry fields where had spent a day picking strawberries the previous summer. He had the best day of his life there.

1589482639_strawberries.jpgThe police initially treated the case as another, akin to the Moors Murders, which has been in all the headlines for the months preceding. As investigations continued to reveal nothing suspicious, it was construed, at the time, that the never-ending bullying that Steven was enduring, caused him to take himself to the place he loved best and slowly allow nature to reclaim him.

He was unrecognisable but for his distinctive clothes found on the spot. Rats had more or less disposed of his body before nature had the opportunity.

His one and only friend Stanley said: "He didn't cry, didn't ever fight back."
