Our project is to create a school-based community access Ecological Learning Hub. It will be nestled in the grounds of Stoke Holy Cross school in rural South Norfolk and will aim to provide a nature-based learning space to support a broad range of needs and community groups.
Our outdoor learning environment will be ideal for whole class teaching, small group working and intervention work. By taking the study of nature and science outside of the conventional classroom, we aim to increase attainment, improve participation and extend the engagement of all learners. We are already active in providing basic resources and this Eco Learning Hub will allow for an increase in provision for our forest school and the exploration and appreciation of wildlife for pupils and the wider community.
The Eco Learning Hub will also enhance our school’s Eco School status which aims to increase access to ecological study for our community thus extending the benefit and potentially improving the learning of hundreds of other people in our community. Access will be made available out of school hours and opened up to the wider community.
We have so far raised £3300 through school based fund-raising events towards our final target.
