Imagine being able to reach out to patients, especially younger adults, at an earlier stage of their incurable illness to teach them how to manage and improve their symptoms. Imagine seeing your contribution alleviate the pain and stress that people suffer at the end of their lives. We have envisaged our brand new therapy rooms as a calm, relaxing setting where all patients can gain and build their confidence and strength and obtain a better sense of physical and emotional well being.
This is where you come in.
Here at St Luke’s Hospice we are currently having a new wing built at the Hospice and are asking for your support and donations which will fund the specialist equipment needed for the new therapy rooms. This is so we can provide more complementary therapies which can relieve symptoms including pain, breathlessness, nausea and anxiety.
Our therapies, including massage, acupuncture, reflexology and music therapy can make a tremendous difference to patients, but we currently don’t have the space or the resources to provide therapies for everyone who would benefit. With your backing we can make this vision a reality for our patients, their families and friends, and our much loved supporters.
Therapies are an important addition to the treatment that patients receive here at St Luke's, and they often comment on the ways in which they are relieved of pain and anxiety, leaving them relaxed and better able to cope.
‘After my acupuncture, I have no pain for about 3 or 4 days’
‘Since I have been having reflexology, the pain in my feet has gone and my legs feel stronger’
‘I love my healing, I look forward to it, it is what gets me through the week’
‘I find Alan’s sound relaxation so peaceful and relaxing.’
About St Luke'sSt Luke’s is the local Hospice for Harrow and Brent in North West London. We provide free, individualised care for people whose illnesses are no longer curable so that they can achieve the best possible quality of life during the final stages of their illness. Care is provided through our In Patient Unit and Day Care service, and we also care for increasing numbers of patients in their own homes.
The difference that your support will make
Your backing of this project will ensure that we can fully equip our new therapy rooms once it is complete. This will mean that we can provide more complementary therapy treatments and reach out to more patients in the local area and offer them our free high quality care service.
