We are a diverse team of people with a shared passion and vision. From our various backgrounds in Clinical Psychology, Childcare, the fishing industry, parachute regiment, IT and ecology we bring our diverse skills and knowledge to our Forest School practice.
We have seen first hand the impact that our approach can have and we are determined that lack of funding should not stand in the way of a child accessing what they desperately need.
We bring Therapeutic Forest School sessions to children who have had adverse childhood experiences, those with mental health difficulties or who have neurodevelopmental conditions like Autistic Spectrum Conditions or ADHD. But its children we work with, not labels and it is through building relationships with children and meeting their needs and always believing in them that we are able to make a difference.
For some children their funding, either privately or through a local authority, is time limited or more intensive support is required. For some, transport to and from our woodland site is an insurmountable barrier.
We want to build a fund to ensure that we can overcome these barriers to meet the needs of children and make a difference in their lives.
Here are some quotes from our young people and parents/carers:
'I get on better at forest school than any other school. It's because of the wildness' J age 9
'My ADHD is much better in the woods, I can manage to keep safe because I know I need to' M age 7
'Looking at A now, its hard to believe its the same boy as when he started. He is so happy with so much confidence, its just amazing'
