About our Expedition...
In May 2019, we’re launching our first ever STEM Build Malawi - Women’s Engineering Expedition to Malawi. A combined group of 25 Women in STEM from the UK & around the Asia Pacific will spend two weeks building a new STEM Classroom block for Rainbow Hope Secondary School on the shores of Lake Malawi. During our expedition we will also be spending time with students, hoping to enthuse them with STEM!
What do we need...?
As a team we have already raised enough funding to complete the construction of the classroom! We are now looking for your support to be able to purchase science and IT equipment to kit the classroom out to create an inspiring STEM space.
About the school....
Rainbow Hope Secondary School was opened in 2017 and educates girls and boys from the surrounding community. Rainbow Hope Secondary School is a private registered secondary school located in Mangochi district, Malawi. The school is operated by Community Initiative for Self Reliance (CISER), a local NGO based in Mangochi. The school was established to compliment CISER's efforts under School Sponsorship Program, through which it offers scholarly support to orphans and vulnerable children. Rainbow Hope currently has a total of 124 students. We hope that this new classroom block will allow them to expand the number of pupils as well as provide much needed STEM educational resources to help in the education of these Malawi children.
