About Us

At The Lewis Foundation we provide free gifts and support packs to adult cancer patients in hospital every week – items they might find difficult to buy themselves or could simply not afford.

The charity was founded in 2016 by Lorraine and Lee, after they lived through four plus years of hospital visits when Lee’s mum had cancer treatment.

Recognising the challenges, upset and loneliness for individuals and their loved ones, the duo set about sourcing donations, and packaging and delivering gifts and support items directly to patients in oncology wards. The Lewis Foundation was born.

With a team of almost 50 volunteers and hundreds of regular supporters, The Lewis Foundation now works closely with 14 hospitals in the Midlands to hand-deliver thousands of gift packs each week. Packs contain overnight essentials and toiletries, letter writing kits, miniature radios complete with batteries and headphones, and lots more – and for some patients The Lewis Foundation volunteers are their only visitors.

The money raised & how simple it is to make a difference

The money raised will go to help provide our free gifts to support adults going through cancer treatment in hospital. The cost of each gift is £3.60. The reason it is so low is due to the relationships  we have built up with wholesalers and businesses, which means we can get the cost of the gift items at 70-80% off the RRP.

It is a really simple and easy way to help make a difference to others.

Impact - Patient Stories

Here is why your donation is important and helps it to make a difference:

“I am nearly 86 years old and I am suffering with inoperable pancreatic cancer. Last year I was in the Talbot Butler Ward when I received one of your gift parcels. It brought tears to my eyes to think that someone apart from my family cared.  When I was in the emergency department this year, I was given an isolation pack. Filled with the most useful thing and greatly received. It really does lift your spirits. Thank you once again for bringing a ray of sunshine to those that are suffering.”

“A little bag of hope, supplied by those who care

Items gathered for me, collected carefully in there

The useful and essential, and things to ease my stay

This lovely little bag of hope has brightened up my day

My medication and my treatment, is what I must endure

But my little bag of hope, is just as much, part of my cure

A simple act to raise my spirits when life can seem quite tough

When you force yourself to keep on going, but you have really had enough

Thank you - Lewis Team Foundation – your work is so worthwhile

Your little bag of hope turns ‘stark and sad’, into a smile

When my visitors have left me, and the sunshine turns to rain

Your little bag of hope gives me strength to fight again

We cannot underestimate the impact, the positivity this brings

My little bag of hope is one of my most treasured things.
