During this global pandemic understanding the truth and facts its more important now than ever before. Our readers must continue to receive news and information from a source they trust.
This is why quality journalism matters and this is why we at Eastern Eye and the Asian Media Group believe we have a responsibility to be there for our readers to provide facts, information, advice and peace of mind to ensure that they and their families stay safe.
However, like many businesses we have been severely impacted by the pandemic. Advertising revenues have fallen dramatically, and we have had to postpone some of our key events. Despite these acute financial pressures, we have committed to printing and distributing our publications because our role in providing our community with authoritative news, analysis and advice on Covid-19 is perhaps more vital than ever before.
Eastern Eye has led the way in coverage of this pandemic and how it is impacting our community. Nearly four weeks ago we were the first news outlet to break the news of the high incidence of infections and ICU admissions amongst Asian and black communities.
Over 34% of all hospital ICU admissions from Covid 19 are from ethnic minority communities. This is a tragedy that continues to unfold and one that is having a huge bearing on our community. Our titles have been campaigning relentlessly to highlight the impact of Coronavirus on the Asian community with interviews with frontline workers, first person accounts from doctors, nurses, pharmacists and shopkeepers.
We’ve spoken to some of most eminent Asian doctors and professors passing on their expert advice and knowledge to the wider community and we’re bringing this news to the attention of relevant authorities and holding the government to account.
To help us continue our invaluable work in this time of national crisis, we seek your financial support in any way that you can.
Thank you for your time and grateful for your help.
