Southwark Splash 2017!

On Monday 3rd July 2017 over 500 Southwark Primary school children are set to  take to the main stage at the Royal Festival Hall for this annual Southwark celebration of music, dance & the arts. They will be performing 'How High The Moon' a piece comissioned specially for them from the amazing Splash composers & choreographers.  This years piece takes as it's theme the planets and all things lunar.

Last year, ‘Shakesperia’ Splash 16 embraced 400 years of Shakespeare’s work by fusing some of his better-known quotations through the genre of Electronic Dance Music and Street Dance to realise a world of emotions and life themes. Over a period of 6 weeks leading up to the show each class participating receive a series of in-school workshops delivered by creative professionals at the top of their game, able to inspire & draw the very best from our children.

These annual projects can be life changing for many of our children,  coming together from hugely diverse schools & communities they have the opportunity to share in the experience of a lifetime; performing on a world class stage with the highest possible production values accompanied by amazing professional musicians, something they will remember for many many years!

‘It’s All About the Music’ produce these events in collaboration with Southwark Music Hub & Southwark Education and have been doing so since 2001. However, reductions in financial support are making it increasingly difficult for us to offer everything we need to in order to maintain this level of excellent provision,  so we are seeking some assistance.

Southwark Music Hub, Southwark Education & the Southbank Centre all generously support these projects covering the bulk of the cost with money or by providing in kind support. The remainder of the cost needs to come from ticket sales, school contributions and donations.

We need a budget of in the region of £65,000 to pay for the commision and run the six weeks of in-school workshops necessary to put on a show of this quality and to that end we are looking for additional sponsorship to the tune of £15,000 to make this years offer everything we want it to be for our children, providing;

  • Creative confidence building workshops.
  • Contact with inspirational professional performers.
  • Professional high end production and staging.
  • A live professional ensemble for the perfomance.
