In July 2017, the St. Peter's Chamber Orchestra is taking Mahler back to the alps. They will be performing the Ninth Symphony in the first ever concert tour of all three of the composing huts where Mahler spent his summers. The project is totally unique: no orchestra has ever performed a Mahler symphony at all three of these locations.
As an orchestra, SPCO has a particularly strong affinity with Mahler and his music. They have previously performed the Fourth and Fifth Symphonies, and will be performing the Sixth in February 2017. To play the Ninth in the gorgeous landscape of huge mountains and glittering lakes that were so special to Mahler will make this a truly extraordinary tour.
They are performing in Toblach (Italy), where the Ninth was composed, and at the other two huts on the Wörthersee and the Attersee (Austria), as well as in Salzburg and at the beautiful Lake Bled in Slovenia.
How you can help
We would be extremely grateful for any donation, big or small, to help us make this wonderful and unique project happen. If we exceed our target amount, your money will be of even greater importance, as it will make the tour more affordable to members of the orchestra who would otherwise struggle to pay for it.
However, money isn’t everything. If you feel you would like to help in other ways, you could help us promote our crowdfunding page to friends, family, and online, so that we reach as many people as possible. You could share our posts on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, or even just tell someone about us. We need all the help we can get to reach our target.
