When it became apparent that COVID-19 was going to affect our communities we, Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA), took four days for South Ayrshire Life to change its name to South Ayrshire Lifeline and adapt its services to meet the needs of people during the pandemic.
Offering a paid shopping service, prescription pick-ups, hearing-aid batteries, telephone befriending and signposting from our freephone helpline, South Ayrshire Lifeline is providing essential services to people in its community. These services are wide ranging and the organisation has listened closely to people’s needs to shape their response.
An essential need that has come to light is the replenishment of essential toiletries for patients who find themselves in hospital, isolated from their family and friends. We are also hearing of the anxiety this is causing family who cannot get access to their loved ones who find themselves in hospital.
We are looking to raise funds to put together approx. 200 hospital goody bags that will consist of: shower gel, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, tissues, sweeties and puzzle book and pen. These would be donated to the hospital for distribution to patients,
