About the project and why we need your help

For a while now Mark and Rick have been talking about bringing out another duo album, the last one being the very first Sons album 'One For The Road', and as they still perform regularly as a duo it's fitting to do something representitve of that format of the Sons. "Let's make it an unplugged album" said Rick "and how about a live one?". Sounds like a plan! Where to record it? Every year Mark and Rick play an intimate acoustic set at Peppers Cafe in Gloucester as part of the annual Gloucester Rhythm & Blues Festival. Ann and Toby who own the cafe are huge supporters of live music in the city and fans of the Sons and were thrilled at the idea. Friday 31st July at 6.00pm, in the warm sunny courtyard of Peppers Cafe in front of a packed audience, it all came to fruition. All that needs doing now is to mix the songs, trim out some of Mark's banter (very entertaining but less banter = more music), decide which songs to have on the album (90 minutes is just a bit too long!), master the recording, design the sleeve, pay royalties for the cover songs, press the CDs and post them to YOU!

"What we would like to do is fund the creation of the album through advance sales. We need to sell 150 albums at £10 each to cover the costs. Everyone who backs this project will get a copy of the album when it is finished, and there are some other rewards up for grabs including concerts if you are a really big donor! Thanks for reading this, whether you pledge or not."

About the Sons of the Delta

Sons of the Delta was formed by two of the top bluesmen in the SouthWest UK, Mark Cole and Rick Edwards. They play a no-nonsense blend of electric and acoustic Blues and Americana, both self-penned and reworked covers.

They perform widely in the UK and beyond. International performances include a visit to Clarksdale, Mississippi where they played at a number of clubs and juke joints including Morgan Freeman's club Ground Zero. The visit also included time in Jimbo Mathus's recording studio, Delta Recording, where they were joined by Eric 'Bassfingers' Lanier and Jeff Hayes plus legendary bluesmen Sam Carr and Pinetop Perkins to record their second CD, 'Made In Mississippi'.

In 2006 they returned to the USA and played on the prestigious Emerging Artist stage at the King Biscuit Festival in Helena, Arkansas, and since then they have returned numerous times to play at festivals, most notably the Juke Joint Festival at Clarksdale, MS, in 2011 and 2014.

Their third CD released in 2014, 'Tasty Nuggets', which features several special guests including Canadian blues guitarist Mike Myers from the Myers Brothers Blues Band, has been critically acclaimed and is played regularly on Blues radio programmes both here in the UK and overseas.
