It's our second year of Enactus BCU officially running. Enactus main purpose is to make the world a better place. "Empowering communities through sustainable change".
Here in Birmingham, we aim to combat food waste, help the vulnerable and change the social stigma towards vulnerable people. Utilising food waste, our cafe would be accommodating to the vulnerable, along with systems in place to help those in need- such as customers being able to buy another person a drink/food.
Currently, we are collaborating with Narthex, Tesco, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, and Wondr. We need as much support as we can get to ensure our social cafe project meet its' needs and goals.
The social cafe is situated in Sparkhill, Birmingham. Currently renovations are underway and the cafe should be up and running by autumn. Our main source of food and drinks will be from food waste - such as from Narthex food bank and Tesco, as we aim to ensure the projects long term self sustainability.
The funds will be mainly used for the initial phase costs such as pop up stores (market test), advertising, etc. As we are still in our growing stages, any donations we receive for our social cafe project are deeply appreciated.
Like every community project, the initial phase isn't easy. We have faced many challenges (setting up of MOU, determining cafe location, fundraising, getting partners, planning the cafe) and so far have learned from the obstacles and are moving forward, together - and here we are, getting closer and closer to the opening of our social cafe.
Hopefully, people understand and join us in our movement to help the community. Let's all do our part.
For any donations please reference Enactus during payment. :)
