My project aim is to deliver reasonable adjustments on the road to people who have dyslexia. This will make the driving experience safer.

by Gena Fraser in Wolverhampton, England, United Kingdom

Please let me first introduce myself. My name is Gena Fraser and I am a Specialist Dyslexia Tutor at a

University based in the West Midlands.  I tutor dyslexic students on a one-to-one basis and provide support

so that their individual study needs are met.  On a daily basis, I see the issues that dyslexic people face, such

as having difficulties with reading. I am a massive advocate for equal opportunities and believe that

reasonable adjustments should be made available on the road just as they are made available within the

classroom.  I am in the process of building an app that will deliver these reasonable adjustments to dyslexic

drivers. The app is designed for but is not exclusive to dyslexic drivers. The Smart road reader will read signs

for the driver and therefore alleviate reading issues, so that concentration on the road can be maintained.

This app will  increase the dyslexic driver's confidence and independence whilst in the driver's seat. The

number of accidents will therefore decrease on the roads. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
