Do you want Boris Johnson's "Brexit election", or do you want a #ClimateElection? Green voices have never been so vital. In 2010, the people of Brighton Pavilion said ‘No’ to politics as usual, and elected Caroline Lucas to represent them in Parliament. With your support we can help Bournemouth elect its first Green MP, Simon Bull, to stand up for what matters.

Simon is passionate about leaving a planet fit for his children. He runs a locally based national charity and is married with four children. Simon has lived in the constituency for 17 years, and he co-founded and ran for 14 years an arts charity working with disadvantaged members of the Bournemouth community. Simon was elected as Bournemouth's first Green councillor in Winton East in 2015.

Bournemouth West must hear about the real issues in this election

Climate change hasn't just stopped because of Brexit. Boris Johnson wants to make this the "Brexit election"; Simon Bull and the Green Party demand that this must be the #ClimateElection. There simply isn't time to wait. Every Green vote brings serious action on Climate & Ecological Emergency closer.

While Johnson's antics put the fragile, hard-won peace in Northern Ireland at risk, a raft of public services are on their knees due to austerity, including our NHS, fire service and police. We are told austerity is over, but Simon demands that the damage caused by these cuts must be reversed.

Greens have consistently argued that a People's Vote is the appropriate way to resolve the Brexit impasse. As fighting climate chaos and building peace is much easier inside the EU, while the severance would disrupt us all and upend millions of lives, Simon and the Green Party would campaign to remain.

Sponsor a strong Green challenge to local Conservative MP Conor Burns

Bournemouth West's Conservative MP Conor Burns is a hard Brexiteer and Boris Johnson loyalist.

Until very recently Burns was paid £40,000 per year for on-the-side "consultancy" by a firm working in the Dorset offshore oil industry. Coincidentally, he opposed the proposed local offshore windfarm at Navitus Bay much more vigorously than the Bournemouth Beach oil rig

As a trade minister this summer, Burns tweeted pro-trade propaganda on a visit to Brazil and drank champagne with a leading minister in Bolsonaro's government he described as "superb", at the height of the world's outcry as the Amazon rainforest was literally being allowed to burn.

Independent website TheyWorkForYou.com logs that Burns has "generally voted against measures to prevent climate change", "generally voted against laws to promote equality and human rights", "almost always voted for a reduction in spending on welfare benefits", and supported £9,000 student tuition fees.

The difference that elected Greens make

Greens get things done, locally and nationally. Simon proposed the local Climate & Ecological Emergency declaration which was passed by BCP Council at its very first meeting, following in the footsteps of elected Greens up and down the country.  Simon's proven popularity in Winton is founded on his track record of being approachable, a good listener, sorting out problems for local people, and standing up for the community - from successfully fighting austerity cuts, to securing much-loved new facilities, to saying no to further Dorset oil drilling, to improving community relationships.

A former Leader of the Opposition to the Conservative administration on Bournemouth Borough Council, Simon also has a track record of calling out Conor Burns. In this May's local elections, Simon and the Green Party swept away the Conservatives in Simon's council ward of Winton East, Simon winning his second term on over 63% of the vote. You won't find any other candidate in Bournemouth West who has ever defeated the Conservatives in an election.

Greens challenge the status quo...

Caroline Lucas MP has been a leading voice on Brexit, strong champion for Remain, and is a co-founder of the ‘People’s Vote’ campaign. Molly Scott Cato MEP, also resoundingly re-elected this May three weeks after Simon, is another leading and well-respected voice of opposition to Brexit, and has developed measures to clamp down on tax avoidance and legislate financing of the green economy.

The #GreenWave in Bournemouth

Simon Bull was re-elected in May's council elections with the biggest majority percentage in Bournemouth. (His Green running mate Chris Rigby had the second biggest.) The Green vote share across the borough of Bournemouth in May was the second highest, ahead of Labour and the Lib Dems. In the European elections three weeks later, the Greens polled more votes across Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole than the Conservatives and Labour combined. This year the Green Party more than doubled its national councillor tally and its MEP complement - in this General Election we can do a hat-trick!
