I am aiming to start a community hub for people with hearing impairments, a place where help could be provided for a range of issues. Those living in a hearing world, take for granted how easy every day life can be but if you stop to think how challenging your life would be if you suddenly lost sound. Imagine not hearing the doorbell, your phone, the television, a fire alarm. Not being able to join in conversation, hear a doctor give medical advice? Imagine giving birth with no one being able to communicate?

We live full & busy lives, especially in a world full of social media but in a deaf World, this can be scary & isolating

My aim is to provide an outlet, somewhere fears & worries can be shared, have a buddy system, where volunteers can accompany those who would benefit, to appointments, be it medical, legal, financial or whatever.

I would welcome anybody, regardless of age & would actively recruit those with BSL Training & time on their hands

This is a completely new business idea for me. I have always wanted to run my own business & would like to incorporate that with a community feel

I would like the business to generate funds by offering the following...

An interpreter service (BSL)

A membership scheme

The opening of a Signing cafe/internet/ community hub

I would also hope to encourage local businesses to sign up to the Membership side, whereby interpreters could be called upon, if & when needed

Got an idea like this?
