Alex, Sofia and Allen are three seven year old, state educated science lovers. Help them be the first Brits ever at the WER Finals!

On the 21st and 22nd of July this year, Sofia, Alex and Allen  took part in the World Educational Robot competition at The Octagon in Sheffield, competing against students from the UK and China for entry into the WER World Championships.

For weeks they had been working hard at local organisation Discovery Stem Education, where they attend a weekly STEM club, building and coding their robot in preparation for their first ever competition. Despite this being completely new to them, the team took it in their stride and won second prize in the competition on the 22nd of July - giving them free entry into the World Championships to be held in Shanghai this December.

As this was the first time the event has ever been held in the UK, the three children will be the first British children ever to attend the world championships, alongside children from Mexico, China, Russia, Croatia, Brazil, The USA and more!

We hope you agree that this is an amazing feat for three young children who all attend state schools in South Yorkshire!

In order to get the kids and their parents to Shanghai in December we will need to raise around £5500 to pay for flights and accomodation for a week surrounding the competition dates of the 15th-18th. We are looking for sponsorships which will hopefully cover the majority of the associated costs, but in the meantime we need to start crowdfunding! We don’t want money to get in the way of such talented, enthusiastic engineers being able to take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Thank you for taking the time to read our plea, and thank you for any donation large or small that you can offer to help our children achieve their dreams!
