Raising funds to help us deliver our "dream" HQ refurbishment!

by Julian Chun in Petersfield, England, United Kingdom

We're going to refurbish and upgrade our 40-year old "temporary" scout HQ during the Summer of 2018, following 10-years of fundraising!  We've fund-raised over £180,000 through generous donations and years of fundraising events.  But we need a bit extra to add some of those finishing touches to the project...

Work starts in just 21 days time - it would be amazing if you could help support us.

Our current HQ (see above) was originally a temporary building which was used as a construction site office for improvements to the A3 trunk road around 40 years ago.  At the end of its commercial life, it was moved to Sheet Village Recreation Ground and adapted and extended by the local community.

The condition of the building has deteriorated over recent years, so that it now needs upgrading or replacing.  It's no longer weatherproof, the doors, windows, roof, electrical system etc. all need upgrading / replacing to make the building fit for purpose for another 40 years.  The building also needs some minor repairs to the structure and foundations.

The Project will enable the continued operation of the highly successful Sheet Scout Group, which is entirely run by volunteers and has members from all around the Petersfield area. Likewise it well enable the continued operation of the equally successful Stepping Stones Play School.

Scouting Values

The five scouting values are Integrity, Respect, Care, Belief and Co-operation. These values can be seen running through the Development Project principles, in particular Care, where“we support others and take care of the world in which we live”.  This means that we will provide access for all and ensure that we optimise the resources we use and consider the environmental impact, whether that is in energy consumption, materials selection, recycling etc.

Our crowd has raised over £55 million for bright ideas and good causes.
