Shebbear Village Hall and Playing Field are a registered charity based in rural North Devon and rely on bookings from our regular users, fund raising events and support from the local community to enable the facility to remain open. The hall itself offers a large main hall area, fully fitted commercial kitchen, separate meeting room and skittle alley. The newly refurbished toilets are open to the public seven days a week and all year round. The car park is used for access and parking for teachers and parents of the children at the village primary school. The playing field offers a football pitch and play park and is also the night landing site for the Devon Air Ambulance.
Unfortunately due to the existing timber play equipment beginning to show signs of age we have had to start removing some of the items. Our mission is to replace all of the equipment and create a safe and fun place for children of all ages and abilities to use. The plans are to make as much of the equipment as possible accessible for disabled users, provide a safe space for smaller children, encourage children to interact in group activities and make it an enjoyable place for parents and carers to socialise.
We have a great committee of volunteers who are working hard to put on events to raise funds to support this project and also receive fantastic support from our community.
