It’s a shocking statement to make, but children in Swansea are going hungry because their parents cannot afford to buy food.
Food poverty – the inability to access or afford nutritious food to make up a healthy diet – is on the rise in Swansea. Of the 5000 children who receive free school meals, many will experience hunger this summer as their families struggle to feed them well over the 6 week long school holiday.
To help combat this unacceptable situation, we at Bellyful are taking a stand on food poverty by launching a summer programme called Share Your Lunch.
Good nutrition is vital to every child's wellbeing. Share Your Lunch aims to improve access to a healthy diet for those in food poverty.
We are raising £5000, which will fund 2500 nutritious meals to share in Swansea this summer.
Your support will help children to stay healthy and well this summer, and ready to tackle the new term head on in September.
To ensure we can supply the maximum number of meals, we need your support. Your donations will enable us to produce 2500 nutritious, freshly prepared meals, distributed to families through a network of partner organisations working across Swansea.
Please support us and Share Your Lunch.
We need:
Corporate donations/sponsorship – can your organisation support meals for hungry children this summer?
Personal donations – can you Share Your Lunch and provide a donation to fund a meal for someone else?
Promotion – can you help us spread the word and reach other like-minded people and organisations?
If you’d like to get involved in Share Your Lunch in other ways, please get in touch with Gemma on 01792 399786 or [email protected].
