The Vine is a historic and iconic venue for cricket, with the sport played at the ground since 1734, and no doubt prior. It is also central to the town’s identity and used as a location for the community to exercise, socialise and relax.
The Vine has seen an unprecedented number of visitors using the ground as a green space during lockdown, for the community to socialise through Live on the Vine events, and thankfully, cricket. The significant footfall has sadly rendered the Vine unsuitable to host Premier League cricket, as confirmed by an ECB pitch assessor.
We therefore need to complete extensive refurbishment to restore the outfield and protect the heritage of the ground, enable Premier League cricket to be played once again, and allow cricket to flourish at the heart of Sevenoaks for years to come.
We are extremely grateful to the Sevenoaks Town Council who have agreed a grant of £16,000, as well as the ECB who have provided us with an additional £3,000 of funding. However, we still need to raise an additional £8,000 to complete the project. We are hoping that the generosity of members and friends of the club will enable us to complete this project and return the Vine to its former glory!
If you can, please donate via the weblink, or if you would prefer to donate via cheque please make payable to Sevenoaks Vine Cricket Club and contact Tom Coldman (firstname.lastname@example.org) for postal address.
Thank you, as always, for your continued & generous support of the club.
