I'm Joe. I'm 24 years old, and I'm a final year student at the University of Central Lancashire, where I study for a BA (Hons) English Language & Linguistics and French. I received an offer to study for an MA Linguistics and English Language at Manchester Metropolitan University in the autumn.
So I want to progress to a PhD in Safeguarding, where I research the linguistics of child protection, and use this as a catalyst to make recommendations on how we can change policy, and this masters degree is exactly what I need to get there. With modules like critical discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, and forensic linguistics, this will allow me to develop my subject knowledge in the right ways to succeed at PhD level.
The snag is that the course costs £8,500. I'm lucky that I can live cheaply with my in-laws, I still have to pay for living costs, transport, and materials. With my loan of £10,609 available, it won't last long. Transport is £1,021.60 for a year, and couple that with the prices of books, printing, and living, the funding will run out quickly.
This is why I need to ask for your help. To allow me to fight for a better deal for those disengaged with the care system, I need all the financial support I can get. Any funding I raise on Crowdfunder will be used towards my tuition fees, allowing me to free up more of my loan to cover my living costs.
Thank you so much for your generosity, and congratulations for helping make the social care system work for more people.
