My name is Jeeva, and I am a 27 year old Obstetrics & Gynaecology junior doctor in Edinburgh. My lifelong dream has been to work in Global Maternal Health, and I finally have the opportunity to do the same!! I have been accepted on to the Paul Farmer Global Surgery and Social Change Fellowship programme, during which I have the incredible opportunity to do a Masters in Global Health at Harvard University, whilst really getting stuck into a research project to improve surgical care and delivery in low income countries. Unfortunately, this is an unpaid position! In terms of funding, I am looking to raise around 100K to facilitate payment of tuition fees (60000!!), accomodation, travel to and from where the research is based (i.e. South America, Africa, Asia) and general living expenses for 2 whole years! Without funding, I definitely would not be able to go, and my dream of trying to make a difference to the lives of women, who die or have terrible complications from childbirth every single day just because they were born in a country with less access to resources will have to wait.....Every little would help, and I really cannot express enough how grateful I would be for your help!
