£500 needed for SHARE permaculture project in Kenya

The heavy rain and flooding that started in early May has killed more than 260 people in East Africa, with Kenya hardest hit. Its estimated that the floods have washed away many thousands of acres of crops. This comes on top of plagues of locusts and Covid-19.

One of our dear friends and colleagues, Yongo Otieno Wycliffe, and his brilliant SHARE Peace Permaculture project has been affected too, and we are now seeking to raise £500 as quickly as we can to help him rebuild and replant. Many of us met Yongo when he came via a crowdfunded scholarship to the International Permaculture Convergence in London in 2015. He is such a bright energy and force for good, and we can only give the highest praise for his work bringing permaculture to so many people in his region. Yongo is very well trained in permaculture, has many practical skills, and is very effective at passing on his knowledge.

Yongo has bought new seeds and is now busy repairing the farm and preparing to replant, but we would like to offer extra assistance to contribute towards improving resilience for his project and community, particularly during this time with the global Covid-19 Pandemic, when supply chains are being severely affected.

Yongo intends to create a chicken coop, to produce a surplus of eggs, he will also increase production by breeding chickens.

For the benefit of the community, the SHARE project will establish a seed bank - a reserve of seeds to ensure there is a reserve to fall back on after events such as the flooding.

With more tools, SHARE Peace Permaculture can progress more rapidly.

Please help with a donation towards this important work to increase community resilience with permaculture.
